Mike Parker has 20 years experience in the field of public health and health improvement, through employment with the local authority, primary care, the third sector and the private sector.
Throughout this period Mike has been responsible for developing, delivering and evaluating public health interventions and partnerships, specialising in policy, strategy and organisational development, evaluation and the use of new technologies in promoting health and well-being.
Mike and has led several European projects including work with the European Heart Network and the European Public Health Alliance and has worked nationally with the Department of Health the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence and the British Heart Foundations National Centre for Physical Activity and Health. As former Managing Director of HM Partnerships Mike has worked closely with supporting the development of local public health infrastructure and delivered organizational and partnership development work for local authorities including Liverpool and Wigan.
Mike has provided practical solutions using new technologies including bespoke health impact software and mobile applications for sports stadium, and brief intervention elearning programmes for NHS North West and NHS Wirral.
All his work has been underpinned by his close work with a range of academics on evaluation and research projects and has written several published papers.
Mike is a fan of Wigan Athletic and a Lancashire and Wigan Rugby Union Coach. Remainder of his spare time he is chief taxi driver to his two boys!
